Academic Ranking-European Standard ARES
Background
ARES processes data for more than 2000 universities around the world, making it the largest international ranking.
It is the only ranking that is free of any bias as the data acquisition and processing is performed automatically using new IT technologies without any human intervention. The major criteria are quality of teaching, excellence in research, knowledge transfer and employment, and international standing. We use the European standards, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
The ARES results for 100 top universities for 2018 show the Harvard University as the undisputed leader, followed by the University of Oxford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The University of Toronto got to number 14 and the University of Paris Saclay arrived 17th. Number 18 goes to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Elsewhere in Asia, Japan has overtaken the UK as the second most-represented nation in the world, with 103 institutions (the UK has 98).
The Nanyang Technological University (Singapour) looks very good, specifically by its innovative infrastructure.
